A consortium of university schools of social work will work with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Services Agency’s (MDHHS-CSA) to strengthen Michigan’s child welfare workforce. The consortium will address critical workforce problems, create educational and training opportunities, and position Michigan to receive federal funding for education programs under Title IVE of the Social Security Act which covers major components of the child welfare system, including providing services to children and families in out-of-home care and educating social work professionals on the needs of these children.
