The Michigan Health Council will promote advance care planning across Michigan by creating guidelines for county champions to use in conversations with community members and developing technology infrastructure to share individual plans with medical professionals. By normalizing conversations about a person’s healthcare preferences, research indicates these initiatives can help reduce a person’s stress, anxiety, and depression as well as reduce the cost of care by minimizing the amount of unwanted medical care.
