This proposal expands Detroit Public Schools Foundation’s award from the Health Fund in 2021, which was a planning grant that created a “farm-to-table” curriculum within Detroit Public School Community District’s(DPSCD) existing Culinary Arts programs and also launched a new Applied Horticulture program that would be state-approved with industry credentials as outcomes for students. This second phase of this program transitions DPSCD Foundation’s work from planning to execution as they prepare to officially launch this program and shift into program management, assessment, and expansion. The initiative will further enhance DPSCD’s existing efforts to ensure all students have the opportunity to be college-and-career ready by improving curriculum alignment, post-secondary opportunities, and work-based learning in the creation of a Horticulture Career Pathways Program.
