Eastside Community Network (ECN) will increase capacity of the Stoudamire Wellness Hub to assist residents in Southeast Detroit overcome structural barriers to increase their health and wellbeing. The Stoudamire Wellness Hub was established within a former health care facility that has been updated for public use in Detroit’s Eastside community to increase access to wellness resources. This wellness hub will function as both a safe space for building community as well as a center for wellness services/activities and resource coordination between collaborative partners. Residents will enroll as members for a nominal fee of $20/year or by completing 20 hours of community services. As members they will have free access to a fitness room with scheduled classes such as dance and yoga, technology courses, art classes, tele-health services, health education/screenings, financial coaching, and transportation to and from the Stoudamire Wellness Hub and medical visits. The Hub is being planned by an advisory committee that includes six residents, four of whom serve as community ambassadors working to build awareness, facilitate resident input, and solicit participation and enrollment. Community members and partners will also participate in a Wellness Network to co-design group services and activities, coordinate resource and service delivery, identify unmet needs, and support continuous improvement.
