Counties Served Saginaw

In 2007, the Saginaw County Health Department (SCHD), as a part of a coalition called Step Up Saginaw(SUS), spearheaded a county effort to improve the health of the citizens of Saginaw County. SUS main objectives were to increase physical activity in the community and educate citizens about proper nutrition. Partnerships developed during the COVID-19 pandemic positioned Saginaw County to work more collaboratively within the community to build a more resilient Saginaw. The SCHD is revamping SUS to again educate citizens who live in Saginaw County, across the age spectrum and with underserved populations, about the importance of healthy living. The SUS initiative will provide Saginaw County residents access to physical activity and healthy eating programs through education, engagement, and improved access.
