Past Grants

The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan will create a Seizure Smart Mental Health Professional Network, which will train 100 psychotherapists throughout Michigan on epilepsy and psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES). PNES are attacks that may look like epileptic seizures but are not caused by abnormal brain electrical discharges and are a manifestation of psychological distress and are often misdiagnosed. This network will provide a mechanism for continued learning and allow psychotherapists to share best practices and improve access to mental health care for people living with seizures.
