The Detroit Midwifery School is launching a curriculum evaluation project aimed at effectively preparing midwifery students to serve BIPOC birthing individuals, becoming the first Michigan institution to train Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) through national accreditation. The project will involve stakeholder listening sessions, community events, and input from an advisory board to ensure the curriculum meets community needs, ultimately fostering a more diverse and well-trained midwifery workforce and improving maternal health outcomes for BIPOC communities.
