The proposed Behavioral Health Center will develop a comprehensive behavioral health continuum of care focused on providing Michigan patients with the right treatment, at the right time, in the appropriate setting. Opening in May 2023, it will include 18 inpatient beds; patients will be medically screened in emergency rooms throughout northern Michigan and directly transferred into the unit. The 25-bed PartialHospitalization Program is an intensive program to assist adults in returning to daily life and averting inpatient hospitalization. The program serves as a step-down option for inpatient care and EmPATH DeescalationUnit, and a step-up program from standard outpatient therapy.
Funding for the Behavioral Health Workforce Development project will support six weeks of comprehensive behavioral health training for 28 staff members including a focus on the role of the community mental health agency, referrals and warm hand-offs to local providers after hospitalization, and education on the use of teletherapy.
