Child and Family Charities is requesting support to implement the All Children-All Families (ACAF) model in their agency. ACAF was developed by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and is the only national program dedicated to LGBTQ+ inclusion in child welfare agencies. Child and Family Charities is currently the only agency in mid-Michigan that actively recruits same sex couples to serve as foster and adoptive parents. Through the implementation process, Child and Family Charites will complete an agency self-assessment which focuses on seven key policy and practice benchmarks and will help to measure the agency’s current level of LGBTQ+ inclusion, fully integrate ACAF into all policies and practices to ensure inclusion and affirmation for LGBTQ+ youth, couples, and families, and train all agency staff in the model. This funding will also allow for twelve trained facilitators on staff to continue to provide the training to new hires and, potentially, to other foster care and adoption agencies in mid-Michigan and across the state.
