Local food councils shape healthy food policy initiatives that create lasting, systemic change. This project builds on a previous project to build capacity among local food council leaders and statewide food and health network leaders through customized, needs-based learning experiences and technical assistance including in-person workshops, webinars, and site visits. The next phase of the project will expand and strengthen food policy councils in Michigan, building on the momentum generated by local food councils’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic and expanding councils’ capacity to address policy advocacy, equity, and fund development.
