Building on a successful planning grant awarded by the Health Fund in 2021, Residents in Action (RiA) will continue to address food insecurity among Black families in Jackson. RiA is a Black-led organization that has demonstrated success in achieving systems change for equity and racial justice in the City of Jackson. This project request will build on their resident-based model to engage the Black community to collaborate and create reasonable, systemic approaches to strengthen the Black local food system infrastructure, including growing/producing food and increasing ownership of food-related businesses/retail.
