The proposed project will scale and replicate the FitKids360 Youth Mentor Garden program to two additionalFitKids360 sites across the state, Southeast Michigan and Northern Michigan. Strengthening the programs impact to improve participants’ mental and physical health through nature and increased food autonomy. The scaling of the pilot will include more hands-on mental health activities, such as recreational therapy and team building activities. FitKids360 will also expand on the food system education piece by introducing skills such as foraging to the youth mentorship curriculum. Lastly, youth from previous cohorts will be invited to act as peer mentors and activity leaders.
