The Synergy Health Center will lead a community anti-stigma campaign for the African American population aimed at reducing interpersonal stigma in seeking mental health services, lessen institutional stigma or discrimination against individuals seeking care in an emergency department, and bolster the presence of African American behavioral health providers to dispel stigma and strengthen the local workforce. The project stems from a one-year discovery and planning grant focused data that highlights a disparity in access to follow-up care after an emergency visit for mental health or substance use disorder concerns.
