The Michigan Active Communities (MIAC) project aims to convene and prepare a multidisciplinary team across Michigan to pursue policy, system, and environmental (PSE) supports to increase access to physical activity opportunities. In building capacity at the local level, the state will collaborate across departments(e.g., Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Natural Resources, MichiganDepartment of Transportation, Michigan Outdoor Recreation Industry Office) to create a centralized physical Activity and Active Transportation Hub (MPAATH) that will help standardize physical activity data collection and analysis, streamline funding opportunities, influencing policy, and increasing collaboration to provide equitable access to physical activity.
