Kent County Food Policy Council (KCFPC), a subcommittee of the Essential Needs Taskforce (ENTF), is seeking support to work with a consultant to create a food systems assessment and food systems plan in Kent County. The assessment will document the current food systems policy landscape and related activities in Kent County and will be the basis for the food systems plan. The plan will also incorporate resident and community voice in developing the goals for the county’s food system. The KCFPC was formed through a 2018 Special Projects and Emerging Ideas grant from to the Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems to create and build capacity for local food policy councils and this request is a direct result of a 2021 Community Health Impact collaboration planning grant to develop a shared data structure to information the priorities of the council and support the council’s food policy activities.
