The goal of this project is to establish a new non-congregate shelter which fully incorporates all aspects needed for individuals to successfully transition from homeless to stably housed. HOPE Hospitality & Warming Center will work with Ethos Development Partners, Oakland County, and Community Housing Network to develop a new shelter, which will house both their existing Adult Shelter and their Recuperative Care Center, saving staff resources and building expenses by moving both programs to one location. HOPE will also incorporate behavioral crisis beds for individuals discharged from a behavioral health facility without a stable living situation. Additionally, this new shelter will host a clinic to address medical issues of guests, allowing for real-time medication adjustments and a more holistic treatment approach. HOPE will engage guests, the community and partner agencies in this effort to determine what features and amenities would best help the transition from homelessness to housed, to gather input and support from neighbors prior to zoning approval, and to share information with partners about community needs.
