Advancing Macomb Foundation will implement a collaborative, cost sharing solution to lower the cost of in-town community and family-centered recreation programming. The programming will be made up of three components: 1.) core programming which includes 20 weeks of “sport sampling” using the Sport Port equipment lending library, family free playtimes, and other educational programs; 2.) a 10-week non-traditional sports program where youth and caregivers can participate in less commonly played sports that are focused on fun rather than competition such as swimming, yard games, kickball, and golf; and 3.) traditional sports leagues where participants can enroll in an 8-10 week traditional league sport. Youth who register for recreational programming through participating municipalities will be able to take part in 40 weeks of programming in their own community at little to no cost.
