To reduce youth suicide risk in American Indian and Alaska Native communities, this initiative equips trusted adults with early intervention skills through SafeTALK trainings. It provides 14 in-person sessions across Michigan’s 12 federally recognized tribes and two universities, building a culturally rooted network of community gatekeepers who can identify warning signs, connect youth to care, and foster long-term shifts in mental health norms.
