The purpose of this project is to enhance workforce knowledge of, and ability to treat, substance use disorders in school-based health centers staffed by Cherry Health, a federally qualified health center. School-based primary care providers will be trained in Youth Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (YSBIRT), an evidence-based practice to prevent and reduce risky substance use among adolescents. School therapists will also be trained and certified to provide more intensive therapy as needed. The project has the potential to be highly replicable for other school-based health centers interested in enhancing substance use disorder services.
