The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC) will promote access to healthy food through an intergenerational gardening and harvesting workshop series that will strengthen wellbeing and cultural identity. The Debweyendan (“believe in it”) Indigenous Gardens (DIGs) initiative will provide on-site utilities, supplies, and equipment at the Bemaadizijig Ogitigaaniwaa (“Peoples’ Garden”); community garden workshops; and landscape gathering workshops that focus on foraged foods and medicines of the Ojibwa people.
