Michigan Built Environment Assessment

2022 Behavioral Health Access Study

In 2024, the Health Fund collaborated with Healthy Places by Design (HPbD) to support a statewide assessment of built environment initiatives in Michigan to analyze available resources, identify barriers and gaps that prevent communities from investing in built environment improvements, and advance community engagement practices that are equitable, meaningful, and inclusive.

The resulting report shares insights and lessons from leaders in Michigan, explores national strategies for increasing physical activity through built environments, describes key elements of successful initiatives, and more.
