Since 2017, the University of Michigan’s National Poll on Healthy Aging has been a valuable source of information on aging, and an important tool for engaging older adults around the country on the issues that affect their lives.
With support from AARP, the poll gathers insights and perspectives of a representative sample of older adults on issues related to health and aging, offering a deeper understanding of aging issues and changes that take place over time to health care providers, policymakers, and families.
To take advantage of this critical expertise here in our home state, the Health Fund has engaged with the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation — which administers the poll — to create a version focused more narrowly on Michigan.
The new Michigan Poll on Healthy Aging has published its first official report — timed in coordination with Older Michiganian’s Day on May 1 — after a trial run last fall. Poll results from this initial report focus on the top concerns reported by Michigan residents over the age of 50.
To view poll results and sign up to receive future poll data in your email, visit the poll’s homepage. We’ll also help disseminate findings from the poll as they’re released throughout the year in our newsletter and on LinkedIn and Facebook. And if you have questions or ideas for future topics, you can contact the National Poll on Healthy Aging team at [email protected].
We’re excited to help facilitate the launch of this new resource for Michigan and look forward to learning from the findings!
