Generations United will develop the Ypsilanti Intergenerational Community Solutions Institute (YICSI), which will bring together key stakeholders in the City of Ypsilanti to plan intergenerational initiatives to reduce social isolation and improve health outcomes for older adults. This project will include representatives from the city and its neighborhoods, including older adults and high school students, to identify and address essential public health priorities and solutions. The goal is to develop a replicable model that other cities could use to adopt inclusive, age-friendly policies and programming. Long term sustainability will be achieved by embedding the institute withing Eastern Michigan University’s ENAGE@EMU office. If successful, this will be the first community-based intergenerational institute of its kind.
