This project will replicate the Youth-Nominated Support Team (YST) intervention for a young adult population (ages 18-28). Young adults who have been recently discharged from a mental health unit for major depression and suicidal ideation will nominate four caring adults from their family and/or community and each adult will attend an educational session with professional staff to talk about the young adult’s treatment plan, learn to recognize subtle suicide warning signs, and receive information on optimal two-way communication strategies and local emergency services.
