The goal of this project is to provide students with the necessary tools needed to make healthy decisions about how they fuel their bodies through exposure to new foods, the health benefits of those foods, and ways to prepare them in delicious meals. Specifically, a health and wellness coordinator will select a food each month and use weekly exercises to explore all areas of the food including its nutrition components, recipes that utilize the ingredient, cooking with the food, learning about its cost and the best way to shop for it, and how to use that product to produce multiple meals that address the health and nutrition needs of students. Through these activities, Downtown Boxing Gym students will also learn tools for meal prepping, planning, and budgeting.
