The Northeast Michigan Prescription for Health (NEMPFP) Program is a 6 week series focused on nutrition and affordable ways to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into an individual’s diet in order to address the high prevalence of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease in eight Northeast Michigan counties. In Crawford County, funding enhanced access to places for walking and biking combined with community-wide campaigns to provide social support for physical activity and education about the benefits of physical activity and chronic disease prevention.
