The Michigan Tribal Food Access Collaborative (MTFAC) intends to reduce the negative impact of childhood overweight/obesity and the related risks for chronic disease by promoting integrated system changes, innovative outreach strategies, and learning. MTFAC will work with tribal health systems to develop and implement culturally appropriate policies, system procedures, and standardized screening protocols. Additionally, participating tribes will pilot the 13 Moons curriculum, an early childhood education program developed by an Anishinaabe Tribal community in Minnesota.
