Special Olympics Michigan will expand health programming within their Unified and Inclusion Center, which is the world’s largest Special Olympics facility for people with intellectual disabilities (ID). The programming will focus on improving the physical and social-emotional well-being of people with ID by increasing inclusion in health care and health systems for Special Olympics athletes and others with ID, including offering dental, vision, overall health, and other services in the same building. Special Olympics Michigan will partner with universities and health systems in West Michigan to provide health screenings and create a stronger network of professionals willing to accept referrals to ensure that individuals and their families can more readily access care.
