This grant supported Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services’ Awareness and Distribution Assistance for Persons with Technology (ADAPT) equipment distribution program. Through the grant, the program provided additional assistive devices to senior citizens, as well as informational counseling, an orientation to hearing loss, rehabilitation for activities of daily living, group education on adjustment to hearing loss, lip-reading lessons, and assistance in finding devices and other resources to assist in the adjustment to hearing loss. Additionally, in order to increase the reach of the program, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services made presentations to low income senior centers, health fairs, and apartment complexes outside of Kent County.
