KConnect and the Heart of West Michigan United Way will create a community-based doula program for women of color that bridges language and cultural barriers to promote optimal health and well-being. Doulas will provide pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and parenting education and referrals to support services, promoting birth equity through a number of positive outcomes, including decreased rates of infant mortality and c-sections and increased rates of healthy birth weights and breastfeeding initiation.
