The Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA), in partnership with the Rural Health Group – a group of retired professionals in the region – will work together to document the challenges faced by older rural residents in Iosco County when seeking medical care. The result of the project will be a technical report that will provide a deeper understanding of how the county’s lack of transportation options and medical providers is contributing to increased morbidity and mortality of older rural residents and will outline recommendations for improving access to health care in the county.
