Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC), in partnership with the Refugee Distribution Center (RDC), intends to provide healthy and culturally appropriate food to Lansing refugees through CSA shares and other means, as well as provide guide-by-the-side experiences to teach refugees about programs such as Double Up Food Bucks that are available at farmers markets, to increase long-term food access. This is a unique partnership for both organizations and would be the first time the RDC would offer food access specific service to their clients. Similarly, it is a excellent means for the ANC to connect with a hard-to-reach population. Programming includes access to fresh produce via CSA shares and enrollment in food access programs. Age-appropriate cooking classes and other self-reliance tools will also be part of the overall programming.
