In the 2020, the Health Fund awarded a planning grant to the University of Michigan (UM) to implement their interrupting Prolonged sitting with ACTivity (InPACT) program to address the negative health impacts associated with limited access to physical activity policies and programming in low-resource schools within Saginaw County. InPACT is the first evidence-based, in-class physical activity intervention that supports teachers working in low-resource schools by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to get children moving and ready to learn. This proposal is the second phase aimed to implement InPACT in every elementary school in Michigan to promote a system-wide increase in youth physical activity levels. This opportunity for scaling will allow UM with to work with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principal Association (MEMSPA), and MichiganSchool Health Coordinators’ Association (MiSHCA)
