Through this grant opportunity, Fremont Area Community Foundation facilitated, coordinated, and provided funding for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (TPPI) in Lake, Newaygo, and Osceola counties. Member organizations of the LiveWell coalition in Newaygo County formed the core of the initiative’s collaborative partners, with several also serving Lake County. The program prioritized decreasing poverty and economic disparity by targeting teen pregnancy, which has an impact on post-secondary educational attainment. The program used community-wide mobilization strategies and evidence-based practices intended to increase access to contraception and reproductive healthcare for girls 19 and under and provide stakeholders with education on teen pregnancy and birth rates in rural communities.
