This community-based program addresses the adverse health outcomes caused by childhood food insecurity by strengthening connections between communities, local clinics, farmers’ markets, grocery stores, transportation systems, and health educators. The Capital Area Prescription for Health program will create a fresh food pipeline for low-income families to decrease child BMI, increase produce consumption, improve perceived health status, and promote agency to make healthy food choices.
