Leaders Advancing and Helping Communities (LAHC) will establish a hub of health and wellness services in Dearborn to provide nutrition education, physical wellness, and cooking programming. Dearborn is home to one of the largest concentration of immigrants and refugees – many of whom experience barriers to education, health, and social services. Support from the Health Fund will provide culturally tailored opportunities in a renovated building on LAHC’s campus that includes translation services, health educators and evaluators. LAHC will also supplement programming in a newly built demonstration kitchen, funded through other partner investments. This new space ultimately provides youth, families, and seniors, including refugees and immigrants, with better access to health information, food, physical activity opportunities, and nutrition education programs.
