Day One is an in-home, evidence based program with curriculum from Healthy Families America. The program impacts families through the prevention and education activities of a home support specialist and nurse. The goals of the project are 1. continue to make a substantial impact on the number of CPS investigations and reduce to zero the number of children under 3 years of age who are removed and placed into foster care in Alcona County; 2. connect pregnant mothers to prenatal care and support to reduce infant mortality and ensure healthy infants at birth; 3. ensure early detection of developmental issues in children and connect families to medical resources and programs to address these issues.
